Slosson Articulation,Language Test with Phonology (SALT-P) author: Wilma Jean Tade
Edited by: Steven W. Slosson Age: 3-5.11
The test model of the SALT-P incorporates the assessment of Articulation, Phonology, and Language into a single score which indicates the communicative competency of a child. Using norm referencing, the child’s score is compared to an index of scores which denotes normal performance with respect to chronological age.
Test administration/scoring occur simultaneously, employing overlay cutouts onto the color-coded score sheet. The results are recorded on an easily prescored test form. Consonants plus vowels/dipthongs, phonological processes and language errors are tabulated into the child’s total composite score for evaluation and assessment.
Features:
Screening format utilizes structured conversation centering around attractive stimulus pictures.
User friendly template simplifies scoring through clearly identified cutouts in test pages.
Step by step instructions.
Designed for use in educational, clinical, private practice, headstart, and similar preschool programs.
The articulation section accesses 22 initial and 18 final consonants, 10 clusters/blends, plus 8 vowels and dipthongs. Phonological processes probed are initial and final consonant deletion, fronting, stopping and cluster reduction. The language subscore reflects errors on 31 language behaviors normally acquired between the ages of 2 ½ to 6.
The statistical section is included in the manual.
